Content/Homo Deus.md

  • From Homo Sapiens to Homo Deus, herein a theoretical ascendence into the heavens.
  • The purpose of this project is not to primarily to theorize an actual possible existence beyond the mundane, but rather to conceive of something which is both highly attractive to the human desire while skirting about the line of known plausibility.
  • If the mind is indeed the origin of existence, then would it not be that its conception would influence that reality in the future? If one could experience this very imagined reality in their lucid dreams, then I would say they are well on their way to the attainment of such an existence, given the right conditions, beyond their death.
  • Through iteration this fiction will begin to become more and more grounded in reality.
  • It is inherently irrational, like all desire. One should withhold their judgments of pointlessness, because that is indeed the point itself: to construct a new default mode of conception that transcends the mundane. The point is to no longer think of oneself as human.

A Derivative Approach

  • Given that human beings are naturally attuned to desiring human pleasures, and perhaps not so keen on appreciating the divine, it seems appropriate that we start by pushing the existing human paradigm to the limits of human mental affinity.
  • Through successive refinement, we would indeed reach Homo Deus: divine man. Not yet gods, but approaching it through progression.

World out of Body

  • Human bodies are indeed quite bound by the laws of the world in which it inhabits.
  • However to approach Homo Deus from the limitations of its realm would be quite confining.
  • Thus we will shape the world in tandem with the body and mind.

Survival

  • Human beings survive on biological processes driven by chemical reaction.

  • The world of Homo Deus, however, is one much more intimately connected to mental processes. That is, mind has a much more direct effect on it than here.

  • This allows for things such as shapeshifting.

  • However, considering the human body to be the expression of DNA, we might then consider some kind of mental archetype (in the form of long standing past habits i.e. previous anthropomorphic existences) to be the “DNA” of homo deus, with the expression of their bodies originating not from quite uncontrollable biological processes, but rather quite mental.

  • Thus the role of karmic like processes are key here.

  • I suppose the laws that govern the world of lucid dreams or energy bodies would apply here.

  • Biological life feeds on matter to sustain an energetic process.

  • Divine life, however, feeds on subtle matter to sustain similar processes in that realm.

  • Though the body is at default an expression of mind, that mind makes use of the stability of that realm to keep their bodies going without direct mental involvement.

Thoughts

  • The minds of Homo Deus are like that of the human elevated by drugs but rid of their ill effects, pervaded by a foundation of jhana like states perhaps akin to the brahmaviharas.
  • There is a base level of experience, and there are altered states. In that way these beings can alter their experience with stylistic diversity, such as living a pixel art existence, an anime existence, a 3DCG existence, etc.

This imagined existence elaborates Apotheosis through questions of heavenly biology. Morpheus considers how such possibilities could become vivid in dreams.
