title: Operation Apotheosis

  • The objective is to transcend human existence indefinitely into a superior plane, so elevated that it might be considered heavenly.
  • And what is a heavenly existence? Simply one considered superior from the human perspective, with pleasure and happiness as the overwhelming default state via the steady acquisition of pleasure, both sensual and non-.
  • And since the superior from the human perspective is indeed anthropomorphic, the heavenly is simply a refined, elevated, sophisticated, and amplified version of ordinary human.
  • Thus we might begin by discerning the typical human paradigm of distress and enjoyment, significantly attenuate or even eliminate the distressful, and then develop and amplify the pleasant.

Humans typically acquire skills through training.

Some humans are born with talents.

In any case, these skills are simply emergent of certain causes and conditions.

Innate abilities shared by all humans can be inferred to be born primarily of the body.

So, whatever skills one might wish for in a future body, they can probably arrange for them without having to train.

A New Body in a New World

This body is inadequate, as is this world. A new bady with a vastly increased capacity for pleasure, decreased capacity for pain, in a world suitible for its gratification; this is necessary.

Create the new body, the new world.

Problem Breakdown

From the perspective of sensations:

We tend to be attracted and aversed to certain pleasant and unpleasant sensations. The human body tends to produce a mix of these, and it is very easy to fall into states where the body produces mostly unpleasant sensations. The body is quite succeptible to damage from the external environment which is quite unpredictable, which can lead to overwhelmingly unpleasant sensations. And so long as these qualities remain, consciousness being bound to this body leaves us with quite an unfortunate situation.

Normal and supernormal control can provide for a more favorable experience, but is still weighed down by inherent tendecies. Thus, a superior normal and uncontrolled state is sought after — a heavenly world.

Craving and sensations seem to operate in a highly complex and interdependent system. This heavanly state of existence would entail a harmonious correlation between these two factors.

Since this embiment seems to be the normal tendency, we must point our focus to the end of this body and the establishement of a different one in a different world.

Two kinds of being: that of resting and that of upholding.

The affinity of an experience is the extent to which craving is continually satisfied. What one craves, he gets. And what one gets, the extent to which that conditions his craving is such that he again gets in accordance. A harmonious relationship.

Affinity, high or low, with

  • Subtle craving
  • Intense craving
  • Turbulent craving
  • Stable craving

Craving with two dimensions: intensity and stability Affinity with two dimensions: quality and consequence, delay, certaintude

So, ideally:

  • High affinity
  • Any intensity and stability
  • Good consequence
  • Both short and long delay
  • High certainty

Productive Unrestrained Heaven

Craving is intense, varied, and unstable. High affinity and productivity due to upholding. Variable investment.

Realm of Absorption

Craving is subtle, uniform, and stable. Very high affinity, perhaps low productiviy due to resting, ok inventment due to residual benefits.

Typical Human

Intense, varied, and unstable craving with variable affinity, averaging low. Low productivity due to resting, bad investment.

The Ideal Holy Life

Craving is low, relatively uniform, relatively stable. Mid to high affinity in the beginning. Total affinity at release. Highest productivity and investment in the case this doctrine is true.

The limitations of human existence motivate this project. Homo Deus develops an imagined body and world, Elysium explores sustained enjoyment, and Proteus seeks evidence of superior beings.
